Elizabeth Gaskell’s House shortlisted for RICS NW Awards

We were excited to learn that our project, Elizabeth Gaskell’s House has been shortlisted in the RICS NW 2015 Awards. What is more, we have been shortlisted in two categories, namely 'Building Conservation' and 'Tourism & Leisure.'

BTP were appointed as lead conservation architects on the restoration of the former home of famous Victorian author Elizabeth Gaskell. The house is a rare surviving example of an 1830’s Greek Revival style house in Manchester, which had fallen into disrepair.  BTP worked on the project for seven years through three phases to support Manchester Historic Buildings Trust’s ambition to return the house to a centre focusing on the life and work of the author with other complementary uses to secure its long term future.

We’re keeping our fingers crossed for the 30th April 2015, when the winners will be announced at the RICS NW awards dinner.
