BTP Restores Historic United Reform Church in Winsford

BTP has successfully led a programme of repair works across two phases for the Grade II listed Over United Reform Church in Winsford. Designed originally by renowned local architect John Douglas in 1867, the Church was in need of some urgent roof and stone repairs.

We worked with the Church to secure Heritage Lottery funding for a series of specialist high level roof and stone repairs, which formed the first phase of works. This involved working with specialists to provided a detailed schedule of repairs for accurate costings.  A second phase of works has involved reroofing a flat extension to the roof to the rear of the church.

The Church has opened the John Douglas Heritage Centre within the Church, with an exhibition showing the history of Over URC, form its very beginnings when services were held in a cottage during the late 1700s. It showcases the architecture of John Douglas, of which the URC is a fine example.  To arrange a visit to the Church please contact www.winsfordurc.org.uk/contact-us-2/
