BTP delivers 44 new affordable homes in Bolton
We’re thrilled to announce the completion of Avenue Street, a 44-home affordable development in Halliwell, Bolton, delivered for Bolton at Home in partnership with Tyson Construction and supported by Homes England funding.
The scheme includes a mix of one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom family homes — with 30 available for affordable rent and 14 through Rent to Buy — giving more people access to well-designed, modern homes that meet local needs.
Our goal was to create a welcoming new neighbourhood that feels part of the existing Halliwell community. By carefully considering materials, scale, and detailing, we’ve delivered a light-filled, contemporary development that will stand the test of time.
Avenue Street forms part of Bolton at Home’s plan to deliver 1,400 new homes by 2026, and we’re proud to have contributed to this vision.
This project continues our work designing high-quality, community-focused homes for social housing providers across the UK — creating lasting places where people can truly feel at home.
Manuel Atkinson, Director at BTP Architects, said:
“Our aim for Avenue Street was to create a welcoming new neighbourhood that looks and feels connected to the existing community in Halliwell while meeting local housing demand.
“We paid close attention to the choice of materials and scale to ensure the homes seamlessly integrated with the surroundings, and the result is a light-filled, contemporary development with homes that will last for generations.”
Avenue Street is part of Bolton at Home’s ambitious housing programme, which aims to deliver 1,400 new homes by 2026.
Paul Philbin, Assistant Director of Development & Home Ownership at Bolton at Home, said:
“Avenue Street is a key development as we continue working towards our wider strategy of providing affordable housing and building strong communities.
“Schemes like this demonstrate how collaborative working between housing providers, local partners, and the design team can bring forward homes that make a positive difference to people’s lives.”
Philip Helm, Business Development Director at Tyson Construction, said:
"It’s been a pleasure to build on our long-established partnerships with Bolton at Home and BTP Architects to deliver the Avenue Street development.
Sharing a commitment to quality, sustainability and energy efficiency, it has been immensely rewarding to see the project progress from concept to completion, creating more high-quality, affordable homes for the Bolton community.”
Avenue Street is the latest in a series of housing schemes delivered by BTP Architects for social housing providers, creating new affordable and social homes for local communities.
Through close partnership working, the practice continues to design and deliver high-quality, community-focused homes that meet local needs across the UK.
