Regeneration Scheme within established suburban setting
Our objective as architects on this scheme was to design a new, mixed tenure housing development in keeping with the established neighbourhood.
Calder Court was formerly a brownfield site to South West boundary of Trafford. It previously occupied 26 derelict bungalows and is situated within an established private housing estate.
The scheme of 32, two and three-bedroom houses were split across two sites. Following consultation with the adjacent residents, new access roads into the site were not deemed acceptable. This led to the design of 2.5 storey housing units in order to achieve the required units within a predominantly two storey neighbourhood.
The project is mixed tenure and the design provides a harmonious appearance between rented and purchased properties.
Parking and access were designed to the rear of a number of properties in order to retain the mature trees on the street frontage.
