Project Description

Development of primary school to provide pre‐school accommodation and new IT and design suites

We were appointed as architects, project managers and cost consultants on a project to extend and remodel a primary school in Chelford.  We worked on the project across two phases, with a brief to provide new pre-school accommodation, remodel classrooms and create new ITC and arts suites.

Phase 1 ‐ Our brief was to remodel the school classrooms and address the central corridor space with an imaginative design to provide an ITC suite and an arts suite. The local Pre School also was located within one of the school classrooms.

Phase 2 ‐ Next, our brief was to remodel the library, staff facilities and entrance area.

Key Features

  • Establishing a clear Client Brief, and identifying the key stakeholders and their requirements.
  • The project had to be completed during the summer holiday period and in a limited financial budget.
  • We worked to tight deadlines and managed project risks. For example a planning application was required when the date for the determination of the application was half way through the construction of the project.
  • Establishing pragmatic sustainable solutions to generate excellent quality larger classroom spaces.
  • Ensuring low maintenance and low life cycle costs.
Client Testimonial

We are very pleased with the whole project and the way it has been managed from start to end date. The classroom areas and newly created Pre School room are exactly as discussed during the initial briefing session. We are very impressed with the refurbishments and would definitely consider working with Bernard Taylor Partnership again on any future projects.
