Project Description

Facade remediation and recladding

BTP acted as architects and Principal Designers under the Building Regulations for the full façade remediation of the iconic Moho building, located in the Castlefield area of Manchester.

Originally developed by Urban Splash, the Moho building is a 102-unit modular apartment block on Ellesmere Street, made up of prefabricated ‘living pods’ constructed off-site using modern methods of construction.

BTP worked in partnership with BWP Building and Project Consultants, HH Smith, and Wintech on behalf of the Moho Management Company to deliver this critical remediation project. The works involve the removal of the original timber cladding and other combustible materials, which are being replaced with non-combustible
aluminium cladding and fire-resistant components.

In addition to cladding replacement, the project also addresses fire safety risks associated with dry risers, requiring the replacement of soffits and walkway decking to ensure compliance with
current safety standards.
